In other words, Google means “a numeral with one hundred zeros after it” which is designed to handle a large amount of information by this search engine.

Initially, Google ran under the Stanford University website, with the domain Google appeared with the registered domain name on September 15, 1997, and officially Google was incorporated on September 4, 1998.

Some basic information about Google Search Engine:

Type of Search Engine: Crawler-based search engine

Name of Google crawler: Googlebot

Position among Search Engines: First

Available Language: 133

Googlebot is nothing but software used to crawl websites/web pages. It is very advanced in searching software and searches most kinds of websites including the blogging website to small, medium or large corporate websites.

Google algorithm determines how many web Pages/websites to be crawled during each visit to your website.  You or anybody cannot offer payment to Google for increasing crawling frequency on your website. This is a good thing for a small blogger like you and me.

The Googlebot investigates available websites and records a brief description of the website in search engine databases. When a user enters a search query in the search area and hit the search button, it provides the most relevant search results by gathering information from the databases.

Google can deal with a large number of parameters on your webpage but Google also recommends keeping parameters short and few in number on your webpage.

For indexing the website in Google, it has some guidelines or we can say some parameters, that must be considered while preparing and publishing your post or products or web pages on your website.

Things to be checkout while preparing for indexing in Google Search Engine.

Images should be avoided for navigation purposes because Google crawlers cannot follow images for navigation purposes. However, it is suitable for user easy interface. Image size should be small for fast downloading your webpage on all interfaces like desktop, Laptop, mobile etc. because heavy images affect webpage loading time.

ALT Tag: Use ALT tag to describe what is image about.

Submit Sitemap of your website: XML sitemap of your website should be submitted to help Google to find webpage(s) that are ready for crawling. Sitemap length should not exceed more than 5000 URLs.

Ensure your website is discoverable: Submit your website to Google, and link it to other already indexed websites. These factors make websites discoverable for Google.

Files and directories: Keep the files and images in an organized manner. This can be done by keeping the same types of files and images in the same directories.

robot.txt: Use the robot.txt to direct the Google crawler that which web pages, posts, or directories should/should not be crawled.

CMS: Ensure that the CMS-created webpage, contents and links on your website are crawlable.

Page loading time: loading time should be as short as possible. It should not go beyond 9 seconds to load your website; because Googlebot will not crawl or crawl your webpage and traffic will also affect badly due to high loading time.

HTML Tags: Ensure that the HTML codes you are using on your website are complete i.e. all paired HTML tags are closed, and the correct webpage with the correct link is used.

Crawling Frequency: Crawling Frequency depends on factors like the number of parameters in the URL, the rank of the website and links to the page.
